Maloca Workday March 2012

We had our first Maloca Garden Workday (or Work Afternoon) on March 29th. It was a good time to see friends we had not interacted with during the winter, and to meet new people who will be working at the garden this year. There had been a little bit of vandalism; because he garden is on the edge of York University property and on the edge of the Black Creek Parkland: its openness is something of a temptation for people who want to party (and to burn things). Fortunately it wasn’t too bad; we got it all cleared away and the usual winter degradation repaired. Although the old wooden swing has finally succumbed to the aging process and itself will probably turn into firewood.

We planted several plots of onion bulbs (which should not come up for a bit.. which is good, because we had frost the next morning). We planned a number of the personal plots and generally enjoyed ourselves. It was a good beginning to the year.

There are more pictures on my Flickr site.
