I already posted about our bird watching antics (back on January 2nd); this is one of the recent visitors to our feeders, who appears to be a Hairy Woodpecker. (Perhaps we’ll call him Harry; he has bee several times to our garden area, and Tim just calls him “the big woodpecker”.) He might also be a Downy Woodpecker; both are native to our area, but the Hairy is generally a larger species. It’s nice to have some natural wanderers come through our area, even in Toronto, a visit for a any length of time. So we try to make their sojourn more comfortable. Much though I enjoy the sparrows, they are a bit overwhelming; and it’s nice to get some variety at our feeders.
